Why we built Cornu
A short note on why Cornu exists, and what's in the name.
Every company is, at heart, a body of information. The hard-won lessons, the answers to questions you'd swear you've answered before, the way your team actually does things. Most of it lives in heads, threads, and half-written docs. None of it is easy to find when you need it.
We founded Cornu to fix that, to do it at a reasonable price, and to do it without asking anyone to learn a new tool.
Information where work already happens
We don't believe in another tab, another login, or another place to remember to check. Cornu meets your team inside the tools you already use and quietly turns the conversations happening there into something durable: information that can be retained, shared, and rediscovered by anyone who needs it later.
That's the pitch. Capture once. Use forever. No new habits required.
A great cause, baked in
A portion of our proceeds goes to Alzheimer's research, a cause that sits close to the heart of what we do. Picking Cornu isn't a tradeoff between doing your job and doing some good. It's both, by default.
What's in the name
Cornu is short for Cornu Ammonis, the Latin name for the hippocampus, the part of the brain responsible for forming and retrieving memory. Look closely at the shape and you'll spot the curl: it's where the seahorse gets its name too (hippocampus literally means "seahorse"), and it's why our logo looks the way it does.
It felt like the right namesake. We're building the company memory you wish you had, modeled on the one you already do.
